Gabriel Bonfim delivered the most impressive performance of his career on Saturday night at UFC Vegas 118. The Brazilian welterweight defeated former champion Belal Muhammad by unanimous decision at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.
All three judges scored the fight 50-45 in favor of Bonfim. He won every single round on all three scorecards.
Technical Striking Battle Controls Fight
Bonfim controlled the fight with his striking from the opening bell. He landed more accurate shots throughout the five rounds while keeping Muhammad at distance.
Muhammad’s face showed the damage by the final round. The former champion struggled to see his target as the fight wore on.
Bonfim landed 18 percent more accurately with power strikes than Muhammad. Neither fighter was taken down or knocked down during the 25-minute contest.
The 28-year-old Brazilian stopped all of Muhammad’s wrestling attempts. He pushed back immediately whenever Muhammad started to build any momentum.

Winning Streak Continues for Rising Contender
Bonfim improved his record to 20-1 overall and 7-1 in the UFC. He has now won five fights in a row.
His only career loss came in November 2023 against Nicolas Dalby. Dalby stopped him by TKO in a comeback victory.
After the fight, Bonfim called out former UFC welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena. “JDM, stay ready. You’re next,” Bonfim said during his in-cage interview.
Della Maddalena holds an 18-4 record with an 8-2 UFC mark. He defeated Muhammad for the title in May 2025.
Muhammad fell to 24-6 overall and 15-6 in the UFC. He has now lost three fights in a row.
The former champion lost his title to Della Maddalena in May 2025. He then lost a decision to Ian Machado Garry in November before Saturday’s defeat.
The co-main event saw Brendan Allen defend his position in the middleweight division. He defeated Edmen Shahbazyan by unanimous decision with scores of 30-27, 30-27, and 29-28.
Allen earned his third consecutive victory. After the fight, he called out Sean Strickland and Nassourdine Imavov for his next opponent.
Tom Nolan earned a spot in the lightweight rankings with a unanimous decision over Fares Ziam. All three judges scored the fight 29-28 for the Australian fighter.
Nolan used his size and wrestling to control long stretches of the fight. He extended his winning streak to five fights.
Bryce Mitchell secured his second straight bantamweight win. He submitted Santiago Luna with an arm-triangle choke at 4:52 of the third round.
The submission came in the final seconds of the fight. Luna suffered the first loss of his professional career.
