Max Holloway has spoken out following his loss to Charles Oliveira at UFC 326 last weekend. The former BMF champion released a statement on Instagram addressing the defeat and apologizing to his supporters.
Holloway put his BMF title on the line against Oliveira in the main event last Saturday night. The fight did not go as planned for the Hawaiian fighter.
Oliveira took Holloway down early in the fight and controlled him on the ground for most of the bout. “Do Bronx” dominated Holloway for over 20 minutes while threatening multiple submissions.
The judges awarded Oliveira a unanimous decision victory after five rounds. Holloway went the distance despite being controlled on the mat, showing strong submission defense against one of the sport’s best grapplers.

Holloway’s Response on Social Media
In his Instagram post, Holloway took full responsibility for the loss. He wrote about experiencing “the highest of highs and the lowest of lows” in his career.
“Saturday night was not my night,” Holloway stated. “Sorry to all my family, friends and fans that I have let down.”
The fighter praised Oliveira for his performance in the octagon. “Shout out to Olivera for doing his thing,” Holloway wrote. “All class so nothing but love to him.”
Holloway made it clear he would not blame anyone or anything for the defeat. “No excuses from this side and there never will be,” he said.
The 33-year-old fighter expressed confidence that he would bounce back from this setback. “I’ve been here before I know the work I need to do to get back to where I wanna be,” Holloway wrote.
He ended his message with a promise to his fans. “We are far from done. See you guys at the top.”
Current Records and Recent History
Holloway’s record now stands at 27-9 following the loss. He had won his previous fight against Dustin Poirier before facing Oliveira.
The former featherweight champion is now 2-2 in his last four fights. This marks the second time in recent years that Holloway has faced adversity in the octagon.
Oliveira improved his record to 37-11 with the victory. The Brazilian fighter was coming off a win over Mateusz Gamrot before defeating Holloway.
The BMF title win extends Oliveira’s current winning streak to two fights. He now holds the BMF championship belt that Holloway had previously won.
Holloway displayed respect for Oliveira throughout his statement, calling him “all class.” The loss represents another chapter in Holloway’s career as he looks to rebuild and return to championship form.
