Former heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury has confirmed his return to boxing with a fight scheduled for April 11 against Russian boxer Arslanbek Makhmudov. The bout will be streamed live on Netflix and marks Fury’s fifth comeback from retirement.
Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, announced the fight on Wednesday. The Ring Magazine will promote the event, which will take place somewhere in the United Kingdom, though an exact location has not been revealed.
“Excited to be back,” Fury said in a statement. “Heart’s always been and always will be in boxing. Someone go tell the king that the ace is back!”
Fury retired in January 2025 following back-to-back losses to Ukrainian fighter Oleksandr Usyk. The 37-year-old has announced his retirement multiple times throughout his career, leading many boxing fans to doubt whether he would truly stay away from the ring.
Fury’s Recent Record and Return to UK
The former unified champion holds a career record of 34-2-1 with 24 knockouts. His last victory came in October 2023 when he narrowly defeated former UFC star Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia.
Fury then faced Usyk twice for the undisputed heavyweight championship in May and December 2024. Usyk won both fights on points, becoming the first undisputed champion of the four-belt era.
The April 11 fight will be Fury’s first bout in the United Kingdom since December 2022. That night he defended his WBC title by beating Derek Chisora for the third time in their rivalry.
After that victory, Fury fought three consecutive times in Saudi Arabia before announcing his latest retirement.
Makhmudov Brings Strong Record to Fury Fight
Arslanbek Makhmudov is a Russian boxer currently based in Canada with a professional record of 21-2, including 19 knockouts. The 36-year-old is the current WBA Inter-Continental heavyweight champion.
Makhmudov most recently defeated British heavyweight Dave Allen in October 2025, a victory that reportedly put him in line for a fight with Fury. He has won his last two fights and three of his last four overall.
“I am thrilled about the opportunity,” Makhmudov said. “I’m coming to deliver a war. Tyson Fury has been a big champion. I will be more ready than ever to leave with a massive W.”
The matchup represents a chance for Makhmudov to fight one of the biggest names in heavyweight boxing and potentially change the trajectory of his career.
This will be Netflix’s first live boxing event broadcast in the United Kingdom. The streaming service has invested heavily in boxing recently, including the controversial Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight and the Terrence Crawford vs. Canelo Alvarez showdown.
A highly anticipated fight between Fury and fellow British star Anthony Joshua remains on hold. Joshua is currently dealing with personal matters following a December car accident in Nigeria that resulted in the deaths of close friends and coaches Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami.
Netflix will also film with Fury and his family for the second season of “At Home with the Furys,” a reality show set to be released later this year.
