Amanda Nunes traveled to Las Vegas this weekend and continued training despite her comeback fight being cancelled. The former UFC champion was scheduled to face Kayla Harrison at UFC 324 in her first fight since June 2023.
Harrison withdrew from the bantamweight title clash after suffering a serious neck injury that required surgery. The cancellation ended plans for one of the most anticipated fights in women’s MMA history.
Nunes shared photos on Instagram Saturday showing her family and teammates traveling to America. Once they arrived in Las Vegas, she immediately hit the gym to continue her training camp.
Training Partner Takes Priority
The former dual-weight champion is now focusing on helping teammate Priscila Cachoeira prepare for her fight. Cachoeira faces Klaudia Syguła at UFC Vegas 114 on February 7.
Nunes posted a video of herself walking on a treadmill at the gym. “Hello everybody, [it’s] fight week,” she said in the video. “I’m still in the vibe. Only one thing changed. No fight.”
“It is what it is. Let’s move on,” Nunes continued. “I’m still doing everything. Let’s go.”
The 36-year-old fighter appeared in good spirits despite the disappointment. She maintained her training schedule and showed no signs of frustration about the cancelled bout.

Harrison Apologizes From Hospital Bed
Harrison spoke publicly about the withdrawal for the first time on Friday. The current 135-pound UFC champion fought back tears while sitting in a hospital bed in New York City.
“I had to have surgery on my neck yesterday here in New York City with the specialist, Dr Kim,” Harrison said. “So obviously, in lieu of that, we’re gonna have to reschedule the fight.”
Harrison apologized directly to Nunes during her statement. “I just want to say I’m sorry. I’m sorry to Amanda, I was really looking forward to it,” she said.
The champion thanked the UFC for their support during her medical situation. “This is day one of recovery, and the road back starts now,” Harrison added.
Nunes had not fought since June 2023 when she announced her retirement. The Harrison fight was supposed to mark her return to the octagon after nearly two years away.
The bantamweight title fight was expected to be the main event at UFC 324 in Las Vegas. No new date has been announced for the rescheduled bout.
Nunes held both the bantamweight and featherweight championships during her career. She is widely considered one of the greatest female fighters in MMA history.
Harrison won the UFC bantamweight title after transitioning from a successful career in Professional Fighters League. She remains undefeated in her UFC run so far.
The UFC has not announced replacement plans for either fighter. Nunes remains in Las Vegas working with Cachoeira ahead of her teammate’s February 7 fight.
