Conor McGregor married his longtime partner Dee Devlin at the Vatican on December 12, saying a psychedelic treatment in Mexico gave him an overwhelming urge to wed immediately.
The former UFC champion posted wedding photos to social media on January 12, revealing he and Devlin exchanged vows at the Chapel of Santo Stefano degli Abissini. The ceremony took place at exactly 12:12 pm at what McGregor described as the Vatican’s oldest church.
McGregor and Devlin have been together since 2008 when he was 19 and she was 21. The couple shares four children, and McGregor proposed in 2020.

Psychedelic Treatment Sparked Wedding Plans
The 37-year-old fighter explained that he underwent Ibogaine treatment in Tijuana, Mexico in November 2025. He announced the treatment on social media on November 23.
“I awoke from the treatment I underwent in Mexico with the most intense need to wed Dee, on this day, and in the Vatican,” McGregor wrote. “So I set about it with great urgency!”
Ibogaine comes from the bark of the iboga tree root and is a naturally occurring psychedelic compound. The treatment can cost over $38,000 but remains illegal in the United States, where it is classified as a Schedule 1 controlled substance.
McGregor called the treatment “incredible, intense, and absolutely eye-opening.” He said in November that during the experience, he was shown visions of his death and how it would affect his loved ones, but that God showed him “the light.”
“I was saved! My brain. My heart. My soul. Healed!” McGregor wrote. “I was 36 hours under before I finally rested. When I awoke I was me again.”
Vatican Letter Changed Wedding Date
The timing of the ceremony was not McGregor’s original plan. He said he received a letter from the Vatican requesting him to move the wedding one week earlier than scheduled.
McGregor connected the timing to what he called “numerology” tied to his name and Jesus Christ. The ceremony took place 151 days after his birthday.
“It is clear this was not coincidence,” McGregor wrote. “God’s hand guided every detail, confirming His blessing on our union and His presence in my life.”
The fighter said serving God is now his top priority, followed by his wife, four children, and parents.
McGregor has not fought in the UFC since July 2021 when he broke his leg against Dustin Poirier. He received an 18-month ban in October 2025 for violating the UFC’s anti-doping policy.
The ban runs from September 20, 2025 to March 20, 2026. Combat Sports Anti-Doping took his cooperation into account, which reduced what would normally be a 24-month suspension.
McGregor has indicated he wants to return at the UFC White House card scheduled for June 14, 2026. The event is set to take place on President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday.
