    TLDR

    • Jake Paul offered Tommy Fury $15 million for a rematch in the United States after his Gervonta Davis fight fell through
    • Fury turned down the offer, stating he cannot currently enter the United States
    • Paul called Fury “bitch made” and “daddy’s little boy” for rejecting the fight
    • Fury responded by challenging Paul to fight anywhere else in the world for the same money
    • Paul ended up booking Anthony Joshua for December 19 instead of the Fury rematch

Jake Paul tried to secure a rematch with Tommy Fury before finalizing his fight against Anthony Joshua. The YouTube star turned boxer offered Fury $15 million to step into the ring in December.

Paul needed a replacement opponent after his planned fight with Gervonta Davis was cancelled. He and his team created a shortlist of potential fighters for the December 19 date.

Fury became a top target because of their history. The British fighter handed Paul his first career loss in February 2023 via split decision.

Paul has repeatedly called for a rematch since that defeat. The loss remains the only blemish on his boxing record.

When Fury rejected the $15 million offer, Paul took to social media to criticize him. He posted on X that Fury turned down the fight despite the huge payday.

“Guess who didn’t say yes even for $15 million,” Paul wrote. He called Fury and his father “bitch made” and accused Fury of being controlled by his father.

Paul continued his attack by calling Fury “daddy’s little boy.” He suggested Fury is not his own man and lacks independence.

    Fury Explains His Decision

Fury responded quickly to Paul’s accusations on social media. He explained that he cannot currently enter the United States.

“Offering me the fight in America… a place you know I can’t get into right now. Convenient,” Fury wrote. He challenged Paul to offer the same $15 million for a fight anywhere else in the world.

Fury said he would be ready in eight weeks to “shut you the f— up.” He reminded Paul that he already beat him once before.

The British fighter also fired back at Paul’s “daddy’s little boy” comment. “If anyone’s a son here, it’s you. I gave you your first L,” Fury responded.

    Paul Books Joshua Instead

After Fury declined, Paul moved forward with other options. He ultimately secured a fight with former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua for December 19.

The two fighters are scheduled to meet at a press conference this Friday. Paul and Joshua will face off in what represents a major step up in competition for the internet celebrity.

Despite booking Joshua, a future rematch with Fury remains possible. Paul’s team had considered multiple fighters before finalizing the Joshua bout.

Paul stated that he had “respect due to all the fighters that said yes.” He indicated several fighters were willing to take the December fight on short notice.
