Jairzinho Rozenstruik is not too concerned about facing Alistair Overeem a second time.
Rozenstruik returned to the win column with a second-round TKO win over Junior dos Santos at UFC 252 in August. It followed his first professional defeat following a brutal first-round knockout at the hands of Francis Ngannou at UFC 249 in May.
However, Overeem believes the former kickboxer’s first loss should have come against him. The pair met in December 2019 in a bout that saw Overeem dominate with his wrestling for majority of the 25 minutes.
Rozenstruik, though, was able to land on Overeem with just a few seconds remaining as he dropped him with a right. Overeem wasn’t out cold and although he got to his feet right away, the referee called an end to the contest with just four seconds left.
Overeem has since bounced back with two wins in a row but feels he should be on a five-fight winning streak right now as he has repeatedly called for a rematch with Rozenstruik.
And while Overeem is currently set to face Alexander Volkov next, “Bigi Boy” finally responded to the former K1 champion’s repeated calls for a rematch.
“Maybe,” Rozenstruik told John Hyon Ko when asked if he would give Overeem a rematch. “I don’t know if the UFC want to see it, if the fans wanted to see it, it might happen. But for me, I don’t think it’s a fight that I have to do again. I don’t have nothing to prove against him.
“If the fight comes again, it’s going to be a totally different fight. I don’t know what he’s thinking about doing but it’s going to be different. Right now, I’m the most dangerous man, the most dangerous version of myself. I keep working. I don’t know what he’s thinking he’s going to come and do there but it’s going to be different.”
