Many fans were quick to hail Joaquin Buckley’s freakish spinning back kick at UFC Fight Island 5 as the greatest knockout in UFC history, so it should be no surprise that this was voted The Body Lock’s Knockout of the Year for 2020.
Buckley’s knockout win against Impa Kasanganay was everything that an award-winning knockout should be: creative, violent, and simply unforgettable.
Four of six members here at The Body Lock considered Buckley’s KO as the best of the year. Other first-place votes came in for Kevin Holland’s vicious knockout against Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Mamed Khalidov’s exquisite knockout against Scott Askham.

Walker speaks to the rarity of Holland’s knockout and that’s why he rated it higher than the Buckley KO. We’ve seen plenty of spinning kick knockouts in the UFC but we’ve never really seen a fighter knock someone out from their back like that. He believes it was the most amazing sequence of mixed martial arts in 2020.
