Aspen Ladd enlists UFC Performance Institute’s help for her future

UFC Fight Night: Ladd v Eubanks
ROCHESTER, NY - MAY 18: Aspen Ladd celebrates after her victory over Sijara Eubanks in their women's bantamweight bout during the UFC Fight Night event at Blue Cross Arena on May 18, 2019 in Rochester, New York. (Photo by Michael Owens/Zuffa LLC/Zuffa LLC via Getty Images)

Three weeks ago, the MMA world recoiled at the sight of UFC bantamweight Aspen Ladd taking to the scales before her UFC on ESPN+ 13 bout with Germaine de Randamie.

Barely able to remain standing, the 24-year-old had to be walked through the process both verbally and physically, her gaunt face a picture of what was presumably an overly aggressive weight cut.

Ladd would be handed the first loss of her professional career in the bout, coming by way of knockout in just 16 seconds.

She would be adamant, however, that the weight cut was not responsible.

“No, I’ve had terrible weight cuts in the past and have always come through,” she said during a media scrum following the event.”This was just me staying still a bit too long”.

Today, Ladd’s management confirmed to ESPN the following with regard to her preparations for her next bout:

“Aspen has partnered with the UFC Performance Institute (PI) and the California State Athletic Commission, and we see no problems ahead.”

As per ESPN‘s report, the UFC is close to finalizing Aspen Ladd vs. Yana Kunitskaya as part of the upcoming UFC Fight Night event in Washington on December 7.

Hopefully, the integration of the PI’s athlete nutrition and conditioning services can help Ladd bounce back from such a tough loss and help produce her peak physical condition from now on.

A strawweight bout between Claudia Gadelha and Cynthia Calvillo is also in the works for UFC Washington.
