Report: Alex Oliveira wanted for assaulting ex-wife, drunk driving motorcycle with young son

According to Brazilian news outlet G1, UFC welterweight Alex Oliveira is wanted in his native Brazil for allegedly assaulting his ex-wife, drunk driving his motorcycle, and endangering his five-month-old son.

G1 reports that on Saturday, Oliveira’s ex-wife visited his parents’ home in order to visit their son. Then, Oliveira reportedly arrived “drunk and wanting to ride the bike [his motorcycle] with the baby”, according to a translated version of G1’s initial report.

Oliveira’s ex-wife claims that Oliveira then assaulted her, reportedly telling police that she was “beaten with hair-pulling and punching by Alex, who still broke some windows and the door of her parents’ house,” according to a second report from MMABrasil.

Following the alleged assault, Oliveira is said to have then gotten on his motorcycle with his five-month-old son – without helmets – but left his son at his sister’s home before fleeing the scene.

At the time of this writing, Alex Oliveira’s whereabouts are still unknown to the Brazilian police.

Additionally, both G1 and MMABrasil have reported that police have relayed a second criminal incident in which Oliveira was involved on Saturday.

Oliveira is alleged to have gotten into a verbal altercation with security at a party, G1 reports that the security guard has “testified at the police station” that Olivera “made threats to the man”. MMABrasil (via a translated version of the original article) is reporting that Oliveira “was indicted for crimes of threat, injury, and bodily injury.”

Alex Oliveira, 31, is an eight-year MMA veteran. The Brazilian has amassed a 20-7-1, 1 NC record as a professional, going 9-4, 1 NC inside the UFC’s Octagon.

The welterweight has hit a rough streak of late, dropping three of his last five fights in the cage, including losses to Yancy Medeiros, Gunnar Nelson, and Mike Perry.

This is a developing story, and more information will be added as it becomes available.

UPDATE: Sunday, May 26, 2:59 PM (ET)

According to a statement from Alex Davis, Alex Oliveira’s manager, that was obtained by Bruno Massami, there has not been an arrest warrant issued for Oliveira in Brazil, nor are the reports against him wholly accurate.

    Davis’ statement reads as follows:

“The story being circulated on social media about the incident involving UFC athlete Alex Oliveira does not reflect the reality of the facts. The news that there is an arrest warrant issued for him is false. He will, along with his layer [lawyer], meet with the precinct chief in charge to give his side of what happened in a timely manner.”

Oliveira has yet to comment on the allegations, but per Davis, he soon will give his account.
