Zach Zane submits Kris Berberich

Main Event – Lightweight Bout

Hawaii’s Zach Zane (11-7, #458 World) entered the AFC 145 headliner on a six-fight finishing streak but caught some heat from Kris Berberich‘s fists in the opening minute. That was as good as it got for Berberich (1-4), as Zane took him down before snatching a guillotine in a scramble. The scrappy local persevered through the choke, only to fall prey to an ever-rare toe hold submission moments later. A great momentum-preserving win for proven finisher Zach Zane after health problems scrapped his ONE Championship debut last November.

Tevin Dyce submits Justin Cook

Co-Main Event – Flyweight Bout

Moments after the opening glove tap, Alaskan scrapper Justin Cook (3-6) earned Tevin Dyce‘s attention with a flush straight right to the jaw. That punch motivated Dyce (3-1) to shoot in and force the contest to the mat for the remainder of this four-minute-long flyweight clash. Cook bravely fought through a North-South choke but gave up mount. Moments later a rear-naked choke sealed the deal for Jackson-Wink’s Dyce. Skilled and efficient work by Tevin Dyce, 24, who notched a third-straight submission after dropping his pro debut at AFC 131.

Kelvin Bowen and Tyson Duckworth fight to a draw

Lightweight Bout

Breaking news: not every AFC fight ends in a first-round finish!

Kelvin Bowen (0-0-1) used crisp straight punches and high-volume body kicks to pick away at Alaska’s Tyson Duckworth (3-5-1) throughout this glorified kickboxing match. Duckworth pressed forward and retaliated periodically, highlighted by a sweet superman punch at the end of round 1, but the volume appeared to be in Bowen’s favor.

Two judges saw things differently, scoring the fight 29-28, 28-29, 29-29 for a rare split draw.

Alex Aschenbrenner submits Noah Abdill

Featherweight Bout

After a brief feeling out-process, Hawaii’s Noah Abdill (0-1) switched levels and scored a takedown against the cage. Unfortunately, Abdill couldn’t do anything with the top position before Alex Aschenbrenner (1-1) slapped on an inextricable armbar and forced the tap. Quick work from local talent Aschenbrenner in his second AFC appearance.

Onosai Moana crushes Douglas McFresh

Heavyweight Bout

In the AFC 145 opener, ten-time AFC vet Onosai Moana (4-5-1) gave former middleweight “Diabolical” Douglas McFresh (2-3) a rude welcome to the heavyweight division. McFresh’s newfound heft didn’t prepare him for the big straight right that cracked him about 45 seconds in. Followup uppercuts sealed the TKO for the big Hawaiian just over a minute in.
