Conor McGregor recently shared a personal message explaining what truly motivates his UFC career. The former two-division champion posted on Instagram about how his family drives him to continue competing.
“I’ve got my own goals. But I do this for the people I love, too,” McGregor wrote in the post. “I want them to feel it in how I show up for them, not just see it in what I achieve.”

“Leon, but I’d love to slap the f*ck out that Leprechaun. Max is nice I would’ve punched him right in the face after he fell.

McGregor encouraged his followers to prioritize the people who matter most in their lives. “Whoever your people are, give them something real today. Your time. Your attention. Do one thing that makes their day better,” he added.
The Irish fighter is currently recovering from a serious ACL injury he sustained at UFC 329 earlier this year. He was scheduled to face Max Holloway but had to withdraw from the fight due to the injury.
McGregor has undergone surgery and is working his way back to competition. He is expected to return to the UFC in 2027.
McGregor’s Contract Status and Future Plans
The 38-year-old fighter has only one fight remaining on his current UFC contract. After fulfilling that obligation, McGregor is expected to pursue opportunities outside the organization.
Last month, McGregor posted on Instagram Stories expressing his excitement about joining Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. “Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship is unstoppable at the moment. What a few months we’ve had,” he wrote in the post.
McGregor deleted the post shortly after sharing it. In the message, he stated, “I can’t wait to do it, one more to go. One more to go, and the Mac Daddy is free.”
No official confirmation has emerged about McGregor’s plans to become a bare-knuckle fighter. However, his social media posts suggest he is considering the move after completing his UFC obligations.
Buffer Honors Elite UFC Fighters with Special Introduction
Meanwhile, longtime UFC announcer Bruce Buffer recently revealed why he gives certain fighters a special pre-fight introduction. Buffer uses the phrase “the one, the only” for select fighters he considers exceptional.
Buffer explained that McGregor earned this honor because of his journey from poverty to becoming a global star. “He is a draw. And the way he’s built his career, Conor’s definitely one and only,” Buffer said in an interview with Helen Yee Sports.
The veteran announcer has only used this special introduction three times in his career. Besides McGregor, he has given the honor to Jon Jones and Alex Pereira.
Buffer said Jones received the intro because many consider him the greatest UFC fighter of all time. For Pereira, Buffer cited the Brazilian’s accomplishments across multiple combat sports.
Buffer indicated he will be careful about using the special introduction in the future. “If I start calling a lot of fighters ‘the one, the only,’ right? Then it takes away from what ‘the one, the only’ really is,” he explained.
McGregor also shared a warm message about his wife, Dee Devlin, several months ago. The post gave fans a glimpse into his personal life and the support system behind his career.
Buffer has served as the UFC’s octagon announcer since 1996. He continues to work at major UFC events for both pre-fight and post-fight announcements.
