WBO heavyweight world champion Daniel Dubois believes he can set up a blockbuster fight with Tyson Fury if both men win their next bouts. Dubois will face Fabio Wardley in a rematch on October 17 at The O2 in London.
Fury is scheduled to fight Anthony Joshua on December 11 in Cardiff for the WBA heavyweight title. The long-awaited clash between the two British boxing stars has been years in the making.

Dubois knocked out Joshua in the fifth round of their September 2024 fight when he defended his IBF heavyweight belt. Since that loss, Joshua has won two fights under trainer Iegor Golub, who also coaches Oleksandr Usyk.
“What a fight that would be. It’s like me and AJ all over again. That sort of magnitude,” Dubois told Sky Sports News. “That’s what boxing’s about really.”
Dubois said promoter Frank Warren would be eager for the fight since he represents both fighters. “Frank would love it, he’s got both of us,” Dubois said. “I’ve got to come through my next fight and anything’s possible.”
Dubois Picks Fury to Win
When asked who he thinks will win the December showdown, Dubois picked Fury. “I think Fury,” Dubois said. “Everyone’s been talking about this fight for such a long time. It’ll be good to see them both get into the ring.”
Dubois called both men “legends of British boxing.” However, he quickly added that he’s not focused on their fight. “Let’s be real, I don’t even care about that fight,” he said.
The 27-year-old champion insisted he’s completely focused on Wardley. “I’m not looking past Fabio at all. One fight at a time,” Dubois said. “I’m just dedicating myself 100 percent to this fight and he’s a true competitor, a true warrior.”
First Fight Was Extraordinary
Dubois and Wardley had an extraordinary first fight where Dubois was knocked down twice early in the bout. Despite being hurt, Dubois recovered and eventually stopped Wardley to win the fight.
Dubois believes Wardley’s corner should have pulled him out sooner in their first meeting. “They were gambling with him,” Dubois said. “Obviously he’s known for getting bashed up and coming back so that’s what they must have been gambling on.”
The London-born fighter said he gets stronger as fights progress. “I’m a different animal and I just keep getting stronger as the rounds go on,” he explained.
Dubois wants to finish the rematch faster than the first fight. “A bit quicker, a bit more clinical,” he said. “We’re just going to do even better than the first time.”
Joshua’s upcoming fight with Fury will determine if he can become boxing’s fifth three-time heavyweight world champion. Fury could also become a three-time heavyweight champion if he defeats Joshua and claims the vacant WBA title.
Dubois holds the WBO heavyweight title and sees a potential unification fight with Fury as the kind of bout boxing fans want to see. “Those are the fights that boxing is all about,” Dubois said.
