No Drug Testing Arranged
According to BoxingScene’s Lance Pugmire, the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) has not been paid or even contacted about drug testing for the bout. This comes less than 24 hours before Alalshikh’s announcement on social media.
The lack of testing arrangements this close to the fight date raises questions about the event’s preparedness.
Undercard Remains Unconfirmed
The planned “Mexico vs the World” undercard has not been finalized. Lindolfo Delgado vs Arthur Biyarslanov for the vacant IBF super lightweight title is being discussed.
WBO featherweight champion Rafael Espinoza is also expected to defend his title on the card. However, neither Delgado nor Espinoza has been offered a contract, according to Pugmire’s report.
The State Department has issued a warning telling Americans to “reconsider” traveling to Saudi Arabia. The advisory cites risks from Iranian drone and missile targeting of American interests, armed conflict, terrorism, exit bans, and local laws regarding social media activity.
The ongoing conflict in Iran has led to retaliatory strikes on U.S. Gulf allies. The Houthis of Yemen increased attack intensity this summer.
