Patricio Pitbull earned his first UFC knockout at UFC 331 in Los Angeles on Saturday night, stopping Doo Ho Choi at 3:28 of the opening round. The former Bellator champion immediately called out fellow Brazilian fighter Jean Silva after the victory.

Pitbull put together a strong striking sequence before the referee stepped in to stop the fight against Choi. The stoppage marked his first finish since joining the UFC from Bellator.

After the win, Pitbull told reporters that he finally felt comfortable competing in the UFC. He described the performance as a new beginning in his career with the promotion.

    Pitbull Challenges Jean Silva

When asked who he wanted to face next, Pitbull quickly named Jean Silva as his preferred opponent. He said he believes it’s his turn to challenge someone after defeating Choi.

“I feel in that moment, he’s the dog. He barks, but bites. And I am ‘Pitbull’, and let’s see who is the top dog,” Pitbull said.

Pitbull also shared his thoughts on Silva’s most recent victory over Jose Delgado. He said Silva looked lost during parts of that fight and claimed Delgado came close to stopping him.

Despite his criticism, Pitbull acknowledged that Silva won the fight. He said he believes he could perform better against Silva if they meet in the octagon.

    Children Provided Motivation

The knockout carried emotional weight for Pitbull beyond just getting a win. He told MMA Junkie that he was thinking about his children while kneeling in the octagon after the stoppage.

Pitbull recalled how his children encourage him after losses. He said they tell him to keep attacking rather than stop fighting.

Those words from his children were on his mind after beating Choi. The fighter said their support has helped him through difficult times in his career.

Pitbull said the UFC 331 victory felt like his debut all over again. He explained that he struggled to feel comfortable in his previous UFC appearances but finally found his rhythm against Choi.

The former Bellator featherweight and lightweight champion has now secured his first finish in the UFC. His previous appearances with the promotion had not resulted in stoppage victories.

Pitbull indicated he is ready to fight again as soon as next month if the UFC provides him with an opponent. He made clear that he wants Silva to be that opponent, preferably fighting in Brazil.

The fighter said he likes challenges and feels ready for another test after his performance at UFC 331. He believes a fight with Silva would determine who deserves to be called the top dog in the division.

Pitbull’s callout of Silva sets up a potential matchup between two Brazilian fighters. Silva has been building momentum in the UFC with recent victories, while Pitbull is now looking to establish himself as a contender after his first knockout in the promotion.
