The UFC has confirmed that the winner of this Saturday’s flyweight clash between Manon Fiorot and Alexa Grasso will receive the next title shot. The fight takes place at Noche UFC 4 on September 12 at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

“The UFC clearly states that the winner gets the title shot,” Fiorot told media this week, according to Sherdog. The French fighter said she performs better under pressure and expects to win the high-stakes matchup.

Fiorot is currently ranked second in the division while Grasso sits at number three. Both fighters have competed for the championship before and are looking to earn another opportunity.

    Recent History for Both Fighters

Fiorot lost a decision to Valentina Shevchenko in a title fight last year. She bounced back with a first-round stoppage of Jasmine Jasudavicius in Vancouver last October and has won four straight fights since her title loss.

Grasso is a former flyweight champion who had a trilogy of fights with Shevchenko. She lost the belt back to Shevchenko before regaining it in their third meeting.

“I am better with this pressure on me.”

The Mexican fighter came off back-to-back losses before her most recent fight. In March, she delivered a brutal first-round knockout of Maycee Barber that many observers called one of the most violent finishes in women’s MMA history.

“I think it’s a fight that has to be,” Grasso told MMA Junkie. “She’s No. 2, I’m No. 3. We both fought for the title, we both want to fight for the title again.”

The flyweight championship is currently vacant. Shevchenko gave up the belt due to a long-term injury that will keep her out of action.

    Championship Picture and Fight Details

Natalia Silva and Cong Wang are scheduled to fight for the vacant title at UFC 332. The winner of Saturday’s Fiorot-Grasso fight will face whoever wins that championship bout.

Grasso acknowledged the difficulty of facing Fiorot but said she welcomes tough matchups. “I love challenges because they make me grow and they can make me better,” she said.

Fiorot comes from a karate background and uses sharp kicks with high output at distance. Her speed and volume have helped her defeat most opponents she has faced.

Grasso’s strengths include her boxing skills and submission threats. Analyst Andrew Richardson compared this matchup to Grasso’s loss against Natalia Silva, where she struggled with an opponent’s quickness and range.

Oddsmakers have installed Fiorot as a heavy favorite. FanDuel lists her at minus-250 while Grasso sits at plus-195 as the underdog.

A Fiorot decision is listed as the shortest price on the board at minus-155. The bout will anchor the main card on Paramount Plus.

Fiorot said she thrives under the heightened expectations for Saturday’s fight. “We know now that it’s a very, very important fight for the next of the division, so win, win, win, definitely,” she said. “I am better with this pressure on me.”

Grasso said she won’t look past Saturday but knows a strong performance keeps her close to another title opportunity. Weigh-ins for the event are scheduled for Friday morning.
