Kape successfully registered at 126 pounds for Saturday’s main event bout with Brandon Royval. His opponent also came in at 126 pounds, both fighters using the one-pound allowance for non-title fights.
The late arrival caused concern because of Kape’s history with weight cutting. The former RIZIN bantamweight champion has missed weight twice during his UFC career.
In 2021, Kape missed weight by three pounds for his fight against Ode Osbourne at UFC 265. He was fined 20 percent of his purse but went on to win by first-round knockout.
Past Weight Issues Raised Concerns
Kape missed weight again in January 2024, coming in 3.5 pounds over for a rematch with Matheus Nicolau. The bout was postponed and never rescheduled for undisclosed reasons.
Both fighters currently rank in the flyweight top 10. The winner could position themselves for a title shot at the flyweight championship in 2026.
All 26 fighters competing at UFC Vegas 112 made weight successfully. The event takes place Saturday night at the UFC APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The co-main event features featherweights Giga Chikadze and Kevin Vallejos. Chikadze weighed in at 146 pounds while Vallejos came in at 145 pounds.
The card also includes top 10 strawweights Amanda Lemos at 115.5 pounds and Gillian Robertson at 116 pounds. Welterweight veterans Neil Magny and Yaroslav Amosov both made 171 pounds.
Former Bellator Champion Debuts
Magny will make his 27th UFC appearance, trailing only Donald Cerrone, Andrei Arlovski, and Jim Miller for most appearances in promotional history. Amosov makes his UFC debut after serving as Bellator welterweight champion.
The main card airs on ESPN2 and ESPN+ starting at 10 p.m. ET. The preliminary card begins at 7 p.m. ET on the same networks.
