UFC 283 Odds: Deiveson Figueiredo opens as underdog against Brandon Moreno in tetralogy fight

Braeden ArbourBy Braeden ArbourOctober 28, 2022No Comments2 Mins Read
    Figueiredo vs. Moreno 1

Brandon Moreno opens as the favorite against champion Deiveson Figueiredo in the UFC’s first tetralogy.

Very few rivalries in the UFC have been up to the standard of Moreno and Figueiredo. The two first fought to a draw for Figueiredo’s flyweight championship at UFC 256 in 2020. The rematch, which took place at UFC 263 in 2021, went to a dominant Moreno, but the trilogy in 2022 saw the belt once again change hands back to Figueiredo. With their final fight splitting fans on who thought who won, and Moreno then earning an interim title in his next fight, the two seem destined to meet a fourth time, and earlier this fall, it was announced it would take place in Brazil early 2023.

As of now, oddsmakers are backing the challenger, with Moreno opening at -150 to Figueiredo’s +130. However, the odds have since evened slightly, with Moreno standing at -120 and Figueiredo sitting at +100, according to BetOnline.

This means that it costs $120 to win $100 on Moreno, or a bet on the champion would return a profit of whatever you put down; for example, a $100 bet means $100 won.

Brandon Moreno, of course, currently holds the interim championship, having beaten Kai Kara-France with a brutal body kick at UFC 277. Two of the three fights between these men have been won by razor-thin margins, and they are coming off of a fight of the night in their previous contest. Both casual fans and oddsmakers can agree this is a competitive matchup for the undisputed title.

Here are the opening odds for the pair’s last five fights:

    Brandon Moreno’s last five fights

    • vs. Kai Kara-France (W): -160
    • vs. Deiveson Figueiredo (L): -185
    • vs. Deiveson Figeiredo (W): +205
    • vs. Deiveson Figeiredo (D): +235
    • vs. Bradon Royval (W): -205

    Deiveson Figueiredo’s last five fights

    • vs. Brandon Moreno (W): +155
    • vs. Brandon Moreno (L): -240
    • vs. Brandon Moreno (D): -275
    • vs. Alex Perez (W): -210
    • vs. Joseph Benavidez (W): -150
