Francis Ngannou returns to the Octagon on Saturday, January 22, when he meets challenger Ciryl Gane in a highly-anticipated UFC Heavyweight Championship bout.

The champion is now respected as a top pound-for-pound fighter in the sport after his dominant performance against Stipe Miocic in March. Despite losing to Miocic in January 2018, Ngannou entered the rematch in March as a betting favorite after showing improvements in previous years.

Those improvements were on display at UFC 260 as Ngannou showcased improved grappling ability to stuff Miocic’s takedown attempts and keep the fight standing. Ngannou’s new defensive wrestling ability combined with his devastating power makes him a tough matchup for anyone in the heavyweight division.

But if there’s any fighter in the division that may know the best pathway to defeat Ngannou, it’s former training partner Gane. Gane is undefeated after an impressive ten-fight career that includes six consecutive wins in the UFC since joining in August 2019.

Most recently, Gane has defeated Derrick Lewis, Alexander Volkov, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, and Junior dos Santos, to earn his position as a top challenger in the heavyweight division.

    Ngannou vs. Gane betting odds

Ngannou is a slight favorite ahead of the UFC 270 Heavyweight Championship bout against Ciryl Gane.

    • Ngannou: -120 (FanDuel)
    • Gane: +102 (FanDuel)

At odds of -120, a successful bet of $100 on Francis Ngannou would return $183.

For those taking the underdog, Gane, in this fight, a successful bet of $100 would return $202 on the night.

Interestingly, Ngannou opened as a -190 favorite but has since moved back into tighter odds as fans and bettors expect this to be a competitive fight.
