Dana White reveals who he wants to headline UFC London

UFC London is set to take place on March 21, and despite it being two months away, no official main or co-main event has been booked.

Ever since the promotion announced that they’d be returning to England’s Capital, fans have been speculating over who could potentially headline the ‘Fight Night’ card. But one thing is for sure, it has to be a Brit.

In a recent interview with BT Sport, UFC President Dana White revealed who he wants to headline the card. White also shared that he is surprised that Tyron Woodley vs. Leon Edwards is yet to come to fruition.

“I’m actually shocked that fight’s not done yet,” White said. “That’s the fight to make.”

Despite reports that the former champion is disinterested in the matchup, White remains optimistic that they can come to an agreement.

“It’s a big fight. Obviously Edwards is the up-and-coming guy right now. Woodley is the former champion and still the number one contender. It’s a big fight for both guys. Can Woodley beat Edwards, this up-and-coming rising star, and hold his spot and hopefully get another shot at the title? And for Edwards, can he beat the former champion, the guy who’s been doing it for a long time? Is he ready to slide into the number one or number two spot and possibly challenge for a title?”

When the UFC returned to London at the beginning of 2019, the action-packed card was headlined by former title contender Darren Till, who was desperate to return to winning ways. He was set to face the returning Jorge Masvidal, who had not stepped foot in the octagon for over a year.

In shocking fashion, Britain’s own Till was brutally knocked out by Masvidal. This marked the comeback and the beginning of ‘The Resurrection’ for Masvidal, who then went on to pick up two more knockout victories and the BMF title in 2019.

Although he came up short that night against Masvidal, White disclosed to BT Sport that making Darren Till the main event of the upcoming London card is what he intends to do.

“I think the perfect card for London has Till on there, and Edwards versus Woodley, so that’s what I’m working on.”

When asked who Till will be facing, the UFC President wasn’t prepared to give a name.

“We’re working on it. I don’t like going out and saying we’re going to do this before its done. So when it’s done, we’ll announce it.”
