Valentina Shevchenko defended her title in style at UFC 238 on Saturday night by stopping Jessica Eye in the second round with a memorable head kick knockout.

In the first round, Shevchenko displayed her remarkably well-rounded mixed martial arts ability by securing multiple takedowns. Although the champion did not use the dominant positions to inflict damage, she controlled Eye for the duration of the round.
Early in the second round, Shevchenko went high with a left kick that connected perfectly with the side of Eye’s head. The kick required no follow-up strikes as Eye crashed to the floor and remained there for minutes after the bout had concluded.
Shevchenko captured the UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship in December last year by defeating former UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk at UFC 231 by unanimous decision. Her bout with Jessica Eye at UFC 238 marked her first title defense.
