In a press release issued today, Combate Americas announced the signing of Spain’s Daniel Barez (10-4). Barez, 30, was the BAMMA flyweight champion.
Combate announced that Barez was signed to an exclusive, multi-fight deal.
The Valencia, Spain, native is set to make his promotional debut in April, facing Mexico’s Ivan Flores Hernandez (10-2-1) at the Combate Estrellas event in Monterrey, Mexico, on April 12.
Hernandez is one of the most highly regarded regional flyweights in Mexico and Latin America. A thirteen-fight veteran, he has fought three times in the Combate cage.
Hernandez is riding a two-fight winning streak, recently besting Alessandro Costa by split-decision at Combate 28 in November of 2018.
Barez, one of Europe’s top flyweights, is on a four-fight winning streak. In November of 2017, he captured BAMMA’s vacant flyweight title with a majority decision win over Andy Young.
Most recently, Barez scored a submission win over Adamson Torbiso at January’s Abu Dhabi Warriors 5.
Barez is a tried and true finisher, having scored eight of his ten professional victories by way of (technical) knockout or submission.
