UFC 254: Robert Whittaker vs. Jared Cannonier - Preview & Predictions

Robert Whittaker vs. Jared Cannonier is the highly-anticipated co-main event of this weekend’s UFC 254 fight card in Abu Dhabi.

And it’s a fight that we can all agree is a #1 contender fight for the middleweight division.

In this video, Ant Walker, Matthew Wells, and Drake Riggs share their opinions before Whittaker vs. Cannonier takes place this Saturday.

Wells begins by saying that the winner of this fight absolutely deserves a shot at the champion, Israel Adesanya.

Riggs agrees, particularly because middleweight doesn’t have many other options right now. One concern, for Riggs, though, is that it would be too soon between Whittaker’s defeat and his second shot at beating Adesanya.

Walker adds to this by saying that if Whittaker wins, Adesanya may instead look to other options in other weight classes. Could this be the time for Adesanya to make a move up to light heavyweight and challenge Jan Blachowicz?

— Whittaker vs. Cannonier predictions

Walker feels like Whittaker is too vulnerable and that’s a recipe for disaster against a powerful hitter such as Cannonier. He’s leaning toward Cannonier to get the job done at UFC 254.

Wells is confident that Whittaker is the more skilled fighter heading into this co-main event but believes that power will determine the fight. He’s backing Cannonier purely on his power advantage.

Riggs picks Whittaker to win this weekend. He feels like Whittaker is a level above Cannonier at the moment, but does have concerns about Whittaker after his grueling battles with Yoel Romero.
