After Valentina Shevchenko’s successful title defense against Jennifer Maia in late November, UFC president Dana White was asked about what’s next for the women’s flyweight champion. White indicated that Shevchenko vs. women’s strawweight champion Weili Zhang could be on the cards if Zhang defeats Rose Namajunas in 2021.
Interestingly, it seemed as though White and the UFC favor the Shevchenko vs. Zhang matchup over the trilogy bout between Shevchenko and Amanda Nunes.
What do Patrick Auger and Drake Riggs think?
Well, Auger and Riggs both want to see the trilogy fight first.
It just makes sense because both Shevchenko and Nunes have been dominating their respective divisions.
Riggs comments that Zhang is going to busy at strawweight anyhow with the long list of challengers waiting to step up and fight the champion. But that’s not exactly the case in the other women’s divisions.
