Charles Oliveira turned down a short-notice fight at UFC 258 (Feb. 13) against Michael Chandler, per a report by AG Fight.
The non-title fight was offered to both Oliveira and Chandler after Chris Weidman vs. Uriah Hall was scratched from the UFC 258 fight card. The news suggests that Oliveira is holding out for a UFC Lightweight Championship bout.
Chandler, on the other hand, told Ariel Helwani on Monday that he accepted the bout and was ready to compete with just two weeks’ notice.
In this video, Patrick Auger and Drake Riggs discuss the report and offer their initial reactions.
The UFC lightweight division is in a real mess following Dustin Poirier’s knockout win against Conor McGregor at UFC 257.
Poirier is now looking ahead to a trilogy bout with McGregor and he wants that fight to be for the title.
See our other video on Poirier’s choice for more information regarding that topic and what’s next at 155-pounds.
