Should Khamzat Chimaev be ranked at welterweight and middleweight after KO win? 1

Is it time for Khamzat Chimaev to be ranked in the top #15 of the UFC welterweight and middleweight divisions?

Chimaev impressed fans yet again with a devastating knockout victory against Gerald Meerschaert at UFC Vegas 11 on the weekend.

In this video, Ant Walker and Matthew Wells discuss Chimaev’s recent win and whether he should now enter the rankings for one, both, or no divisions at this stage.

Wells says that Chimaev “needs to be ranked right now.” He says that it’s not that crazy to put Chimaev into the #15 spot in both divisions and see how it all plays out because he’s proven, very quickly, that he’s the real deal.

Walker believes that Chimaev should be ranked, as well. He explains that we’ve seen many hype-trains in the UFC before but Chimaev is in a category similar to that of Israel Adesanya and Conor McGregor. Adesanya and McGregor rose to new heights because of their fighting ability primarily and the same thing is happening right now with Chimaev.

Walker says let’s take the training wheels off Chimaev and let him go up against a top-15 opponent. He says it needs to be someone who is a legitimate contender and not someone on the way out.

Walker would prefer to see matchups with Brad Tavares and Michael Chiesa in Chimaev’s future.

Wells, on the other hand, calls for fights with Vicente Luque and Marvin Vettori. Chimaev looks to be a strong contender at both welterweight and middleweight, but it remains to be seen who will step up and fight him next.

Who would you like to see Khamzat Chimaev fight next?
