Is Tony Ferguson finished?

Khabib Nurmagomedov has said that he believes Tony Ferguson is finished.

“Tony Ferguson is finished now,” Nurmagomedov told Brett Okamoto of ESPN. “He’s gonna come back, and someone gonna beat him again, I believe. Because when you take damage like this, you’re never going to be the same. Never. Even if you’re Tony Ferguson.”

But is it too early to say that the dangerous lightweight contender is finished? Ant Walker, Drake Riggs, and Matthew Wells all think so.

In this video, we share our reaction to Nurmagomedov’s recent comments.

Walker immediately says that we should wait and see what Ferguson looks like in his next fight before anyone makes comments about him being finished.

Riggs comments that Ferguson has typically taken plenty of damage in his fights, even when he was winning. And now, with a beatdown at the hands of Gaethje, this could be enough to tip the scales, but we’re not going to know until we see Ferguson lose a fight that he shouldn’t lose.

Wells reminds fans that Ferguson never went out. He was rocked during the fight with Gaethje but he was still standing at the end of it. He has a legendary chin and he’ll get the chance to prove that he’s not finished in his next fight.

In an interesting comparison, Walker reflects on the Robbie Lawler vs. Carlos Condit fight and how it now appears that fight has taken a serious toll on both fighters.

It sure is possible that Ferguson is diminished after that fight with Gaethje, but you won’t hear us say that’s he’s finished just yet.
