Damien Brown eyes RIZIN fight with 'protected' Mikuru Asakura 1

In this episode of Fighting Words, Michael Fiedel spoke with Damien Brown about his future fighting for RIZIN in Japan.

Brown reflects on being cut from the UFC in 2018, labeling it an “injustice,” before sharing his thoughts on the current state of refereeing and judging in MMA.

The Australian praises the UFC because they treat fighters “like royalty,” and says that he would definitely sign on the dotted line given the chance to do again in the future.

But for now, Brown is focused on fighting in Japan and has his eyes on ‘protected’ fighter Mikuru Asakura. Brown says that Asakura is yet to be tested and believes that getting his hands on Asakura would be great not only because it would be an exciting matchup but because it would greatly benefit his career, as well.

The 35-year-old also discussed how his gym, Base Training Centre, is handling social distancing requirements in Australia amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and the recent launch of “The Wireless Podcast.”
