Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier has finally been confirmed.
The fight is set to take place on January 23 at UFC 257, likely at Fight Island in Abu Dhabi. Matthew Wells, Ant Walker, and Drake Riggs discuss the opening betting odds for McGregor vs. Poirier and then share their predictions before UFC 257 in January.
Riggs says that it’s going to be a great fight because Poirier has reinvented himself. His improvements mean that he is arguably one of the best 15 lightweight fighters of all-time.
Walker has a hard time looking too far into McGregor betting odds. He recalls how McGregor’s odds weren’t absolutely blown out against Mayweather because people were putting money on him to win that fight. Ridiculous. Walker also recalls a great story about how Poirier’s emotions may have impacted his performance in the first McGregor vs. Poirier fight. If he can stay focused this time around, the result may differ.
Wells expects a competitive fight but expects McGregor to get the win because this fight will largely be contested on the feet.
Riggs finds it hard not to go with Poirier. He’s been more active while McGregor has been out of action for so long.
