Wang Guan superior in Shanghai

Wang Guan had more tools in his arsenal as he was able to pull off an exciting win over seasoned UFC veteran Alex Caceres. The Chinese talent improves to 21-1 to kick off his UFC debut.

Fight breakdown

Wang Guan and Alex Caceres engaging in a back and forth exchange. After a double low-blow, the fight starts to pick up steam as Wang Guan lands a monster jab that rocks Caceres. Wang Guan does well to stay on top of his opponent as Caceres shakes off the cobwebs. 90 seconds left in the round and Caceres finally has his bearings and is starting to throw more.

Not much success landing on target as Wang Guan is the faster fighter. Wang Guan lands another jab coming in and Alex Caceres is rocked with 15 seconds left in the round. Saved by the bell for the American fighter as he wobbles to the stool.

Wang Guan showed some serious power in the first round, and Alex Caceres is much more respectful of the distance. The jab feint into a stinging right hand from Wang Guan makes Caceres step back yet again. Another low blow from Alex Caceres on accident but Wang Guan wastes no time continuing the fight as he feels a finish in the midst.

Alex Caceres starting to get a bit more comfortable in his movement, but the hand speed is simply not enough as he can’t find the chin of Guan. The only tools working at the moment for him are his head kicks from distance. The flair continues, but not much is there in terms of damage for Guan as he is able to match movements and keep safe.

The third round is much of the same as Wang Guan continues to find success with that lethal jab. Caceres is much slower at this point and his kicks are being caught by the Chinese fighter. As Caceres’ legs get tangled Guan lands a straight that drops Caceres. Caceres smiling off the strikes but the damage is evident. The rest of the round finishes with few strikes landed. Wang Guan is more than likely the victor as he had many exciting moments.
