Round one

Conor rushes forward. Opens with a left hand. That connects. He’s connected the left three times in just 15 seconds. Poirier on the back foot. McGregor attempts another left hand but Poirier slips now and comes back with punches of his own. Leg kick for Poirier. Poirier takedown and gets underneath McGregor. Gets the takedown and McGregor scrambles back to the cage. Poirier still controlling McGregor but McGregor stands and attempts to break. Shoulder strike for McGregor as a response from Poirier’s shoulder strike. Poirier grappling with McGregor against the fence, it’s a great outcome that’ll likely help slow McGregor down. McGregor knee connects in the clinch. Poirier changing levels for another takedown attempt. Going for a high single-leg. McGregor rotates and is now pushing Poirier back against the cage. A lot of shoulder strikes from both fighters. McGregor slapping Poirier’s head with his left hand and Poirier lands another shoulder strike. They separate. McGregor lands the left hand but Poirier takes it well. McGregor’s jab looks sharp. Lands a hard jab that connects perfectly. Jab and left hand to the body for McGregor. Poirier in defensive mode right now. Poirier lands a check hook and taunts McGregor. Great fight. Calf kick from Poirier. McGregor is purely boxing in this fight. Poirier trying to do more to make this a mixed martial arts bout. McGregor spinning kick misses. Poirier with another lead leg kick.

Round two

Good chopping leg kick from McGregor and Poirier responds with one of the same. McGregor catches Poirier’s next leg kick and answers with a punch. Poirier looks more durable in this fight, as many predicted. McGregor hasn’t been able to put him away. McGregor catches another kick and takes Poirier back to the cage. Catches another and lands a left hand high. Poirier jab lands. Poirier left hand connects. Exciting fight. McGregor 1-2 and Poirier slips out of the way. McGregor missed and Poirier changes an angle and now has McGregor backed against the cage. Poirier turning it up. He’s overwhelming McGregor. McGregor is on the mat. It’s ALL OVER!
