Amanda Nunes vs. Holly Holm play-by-play
Round one
Relatively patient start for both fighters. Lots of energy in the crowd after Jorge Masvidal’s record-breaking KO. Holm lands a good right hand. Both fighters feinting. Nunes goes high with a right kick. Now she has the center of the cage. Holm’s length seems to be a problem for Nunes early. She’s still trying to figure out how to safely approach Holm. Holm circling to her left and into Nunes’ right hand. They clinch and Nunes misses with a hard elbow. Nunes doing some work in the clinch, great knees to the body. She trips Holm and looks to secure top position but Holm scrambles well and gets back to her feet. For a moment, it looked as if we’d see how these two would fare on the mat. Nunes walks forward and catches Holm with a solid left hook. She’s doing the better work in this round now. A right body kick lands and a left punch too for Nunes. Nunes connects with a right high kick and puts Holm down on the mat. She finishes with four solid shots to the head of Holm and it’s all over.
