The UFC’s 2017 campaign has come to an end and with it came an exceptional performance from Khabib Nurmagomedov and a fascinating main event battle between Cris Cyborg and Holly Holm.
Cyborg and Holm each picked up an extra $50,000 after their Women’s Featherweight Championship bout. Holm took Cyborg the distance for the first time since 2005 but fell short on the scorecards (49-46, 48-47, 48-47).
In the co-main event, Nurmagomedov mauled Edson Barboza on the way to a dominant decision victory. Nurmagomedov was always in control of the bout and picked up an extremely rare 30-24 on one judge’s scorecard. The Russian used his grappling to smother Barboza and keep him pinned to the mat where he unloaded heavy punches to the face and body of his opponent.
Tim Elliott also picked up a $50,000 bonus after his impressive second-round submission of Mark De La Rosa in the first bout of the evening. Elliott relied on his scrambling ability to maintain control over the UFC debutant before eventually submitting him with a tight anaconda choke 1:41 into the second round.
The UFC reported the attendance as 13,561 and gate revenue of $1,760,628.74.
