Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis put on a show for the fans as he knocked out Marcin “Tybur” Tybura in the third round of their bout at UFC Fight Night 126.
Lewis had some trouble in the earlier rounds as the two went to the ground, but he did not gas as he did in his last fight against Mark Hunt. As the third round was coming to an end, Lewis turned it up and got the job done.
The hype is on
It did not take long after the victory for the fans and fellow fighters to demand a fight between Lewis and Francis Ngannou.
This is the type of fight that all fight fans would love to see. Two huge heavyweights that love to stand and bang going at each other would be a dream come true. Francis Ngannou is coming off a loss to the current champion, Stipe Miocic, and it would make complete sense for him to face someone such as Lewis who has a huge buzz around his name. This would definitely make for an exciting fight and could easily be a main event. Who wouldn’t want to see “The Black Beast” go up against “The Predator”?
Striker vs. grappler
On the other hand, if for some reason the fight with Francis Ngannou cannot be booked then it would be just as exciting to see Fabricio Werdum in the cage with Lewis. The two were set to face each other back in November of last year but Lewis had to pull out last minute due to an injury to his back (spinal). Although Werdum is currently booked to a fight with Alexander Volkov at the moment, I believe the battle between the heavy hitting striker and the high-level Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner would be more exciting.
Whoever Derrick Lewis chooses to fight, it is going to be yet another entertaining night for the fight fans. In his post-fight interview with Laura Sanko, when asked what his next move will be, he answered, “Anyone of the top guys, actually. Anyone that signs the contract first.”
