Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury’s fight in December 2018 turned out to be one of the most entertaining scraps of the year.
UFC 253: Adesanya vs. Costa is this Saturday!
- Main event: Adesanya vs. Costa 🏆
- Co-main event: Reyes vs. Blachowicz 🏆
This Saturday, they’ll do it again at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The PPV event will be available to order and watch on ESPN+.
Fury controlled the majority of the action in the first bout. His long jab and head movement bewildered Wilder, and by the end of the eight-round, it appeared as if Fury was on his way to earning a comfortable decision win.
In round nine, however, Wilder landed a shot that sent Fury to the mat. Fury got back to his feet at the count of nine, but this was exactly the moment that Wilder needed against the frustrating Brit.
Fury got back to business in the 10th and 11th round but he ended up on the mat again in round 12 following a series of powerful punches. This time — for a few seconds, anyway — it looked as if Fury wouldn’t get back to his feet. But he did and he somehow managed to look the better of the two fighters for the final parts of the round.
Despite the knockdowns, many believed that Fury had won enough rounds to walk away with the decision victory at the end of the night.
In the end, though, the fight was announced as a split draw with a 115-111 scorecard for Wilder, a 114-112 score in favor of Fury, and a 113-113 draw.
The Wilder vs. Fury rematch is available on ESPN+ PPV this Saturday night.
