ONE Championship has announced that Stefer Rahardian will compete against Muhammad “The Spider” Imran in a ONE Flyweight World Championship title eliminator at ONE: Kings of Courage.
Rahardian (6-0) made his ONE Championship debut in January this year after winning the ONE: Titles and Titans Flyweight Tournament in August of 2016. The Indonesian enjoyed a successful debut against Jerome Paye and backed up his stellar debut with victories over Eugene Toquero and Sim Bunsrun to close out a perfect 3-0 year with the organization.
Imran (5-1) will be stepping into the ONE Championship cage for the first time at ONE: Kings of Courage. After four consecutive submission victories in Pak Flight Club, Imran had his streak snapped by Jeremy Miado in December of 2016 while competing at Blaze Fighting Championship 1.
“The Spider” is gifted with a brilliant opportunity on his organizational debut in Jakarta. The winner of Rahardian vs. Imran will be awarded a shot at reigning champion Adriano Moraes later in 2017.
The scenario strikes many similarities to the recent booking of ONE: Warriors of the World in Bangkok, Thailand. Local star Shannon Wiratchai was booked in a ONE Lightweight World Championship title eliminator against Rasul Yakhyaev, who had not competed with the organization for years. Unfortunately for the Thai fans in attendance, Wiratchai was unsuccessful in his quest to earn a shot at Martin Nguyen and the lightweight title.
This co-main event joins the Women’s Strawweight World Championship bout between Tiffany Teo vs. Xiong Jing Nan at ONE: Kings of Courage on January 20. The event will take place at the Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta, Indonesia.
