Muhammad “The Jungle Cat” Aiman kept the fight exactly where he wanted and chipped away at Yang Fei for three rounds to win a unanimous decision at ONE: Immortal Pursuit.
Despite taking this fight on short notice, Aiman controlled the contest from the very start. He maintained his usual style of composed and experimental striking, while also showing improved takedown defense and impressive scrambling ability.
“The Jungle Cat” targeted the lead leg of Yang from the very first minute and continued to smash heavy leg kicks deep into the leg of his opponent. Yang never anticipated Aiman’s kicks and was unable to check them. Aiman also disguised his leg kicks behind powerful combinations and marked up Yang’s leg badly.
Yang, who needed to change things up to make the fight competitive, tried to take down “The Jungle Cat” multiple times throughout the contest, but Aiman stuffed his takedowns with ease. For the most part, Yang wasn’t getting enough penetration with his takedown attempts. When he managed to get Aiman to the mat, it wouldn’t be for long.
In the first round, Aiman returned to his feet almost immediately after hitting the mat. The one time that Yang secured a dominant position and moved into full mount, Aiman walked his feet up the cage and scooted out the back. He walked back to the center of the ONE Championship cage and continued to dominate Yang with his striking.
Both Aiman and Yang had slowed significantly in the third round, but it didn’t stop Aiman from finishing the contest with a series of wild kicks.
It was an impressive performance from Muhammad Aiman, who now moves to 3-2. The Bali MMA prospect also returns to winning ways after losing to Danny Kingad at ONE: Kings of Destiny.
