April Osenio is the first to challenge Xiong Jingnan, who will make her ONE Championship debut at ONE: Warriors of the World in Bangkok on December 9.
Training with Team Lakay in the Philippines, April Osenio uses her experience as a former National Wushu Champion to seamlessly combine strikes together inside the cage.
After defeating Ann Osman, Osenio was scheduled to meet Jenny Huang at ONE: Age of Domination in December 2016. Osenio dominated the early stages of the contest with her powerful striking before being eventually overwhelmed by Huang’s grappling in the second round.
By the time ONE: Warriors of the World arrives, the 23-year-old will have had 12 months to reflect on letting her bout with Huang slip away. Ultimately, it cost Osenio a shot at the UFC Atomweight World Championship, as the win propelled Huang to a battle with Angela Lee in March this year.[srizonfbvidsingle id=1465533500136567]
After accumulating nine wins and one defeat through her ten contests at Kunlun Fight, Xiong Jingnan now hopes to enjoy the same success in ONE Championship.
Xiong signed to the promotion earlier this month alongside Yang Fei and Zhao Zhikang as ONE Championship look to attract and promote rising Chinese martial artists.
The 28-year-old enters this contest at ONE: Warriors of the World after winning her last four contests. Through her time with Kunlun Fight, six of her nine wins were via way of KO/TKO and she has five first-round stoppages to her name.
Backed by her impressive record, Xiong and Phuket Top Team were pushing for her to be included on the UFC Fight Night 122 card in Shanghai, China. However, this never eventuated and now Xiong’s eyes are surely set on claiming the vacant flyweight title at ONE Championship.
Xiong Jingnan will meet April Osenio at ONE: Warriors of the World. The event is headling by a ONE Strawweight World Championship bout between Yoshitaka Naito and Alex Silva.
