A Pakistan vs. India showdown could be in the works.
Just days after scoring the biggest win of his career, India’s Rajinder Singh Meena has been challenged by Ahmed “The Wolverine” Mujtaba in what would be a meaningful battle between two rival sporting nations.
“I always had my eyes on a fight with Rajinder the day I signed the contract. A veteran with a total 15 fights, Rajinder is a respected fighter in India and I have always wanted to share the One Championship cage with him.”
Mujtaba issued the challenge via Facebook and has since gained over 100 shares from fans and followers who are supporting his objective.
“The Wolverine” explained the reasoning for the challenge to The Nation:
“I will train harder than I ever have before and when I get my hands raised and when I will raise the green flag in front of a filled arena at ONE Championship for my country it will be the best feeling in the world.”
Ahmed Mujtaba’s last appearance inside the ONE Championship cage ended in controversy. After an intense staredown and a powerful opening exchange, Mujtaba’s opponent, Li Kai Wen, connected with illegal strikes to the back of Mujtaba’s head. Mujtaba was unable to recover during the allotted five-minute injury timeout and was declared the winner when Li Kai Wen was disqualified.
Mujtaba, who usually competes in the lightweight division, would likely need to move up to the lightweight division for this fight to happen, considering that Meena has competed at lightweight for the length of his career.
